The baleen whale populations of the Northern and Southern hemispheres migrate at the same time. Both populations swim south in November and north in May. Summer and winter occur during different months in the two hemispheres. November is winter in the Northern Hemisphere and May is summer. In the Southern Hemisphere, May is winter and November is summer.
